Artistic Director
Shawn Cullen
Shawn is excited and proud to begin his 2nd year as Artistic Director/Conductor for Reveille’s “Sweet Sixteen” season! In his first year with Reveille Mr. Cullen produced two entertaining and crowd pleasing concerts for Reveille breaking attendance records and increasing Reveille's membership with a new and exciting artistic vision. For the past 6 years, Shawn has held various positions with Tucson Unified School District where he has served as instrumental/choral educator and conductor with students K-12. Under his leadership ensembles have received “Superior and Superior with Distinction” ratings at state and national competitions. Also in his 2nd year, Mr. Cullen continues his adjunct faculty position as Assistant Director of Athletic Bands in the University of Arizona School of Music.
In such a short time Mr. Cullen has enjoyed a broad and diverse professional career as musician, conductor, arranger and educator. As a professional musician Cullen has traveled throughout the United States, Mexico and South America as a vocalist, instrumentalist and conductor. When not teaching or performing, Mr. Cullen serves as an artistic consultant to various musical groups as a sought-out guest clinician. Cullen has also composed and arranged music for film, radio and the theater and has written and directed multiple staged musical productions.
Mr. Cullen is a graduate of the University of Arizona where he studied trumpet, voice, conducting and music education. Cullen has earned credits as a performer and song writer on multiple albums including Park Avenue Records, acted professionally with the Wilde Playhouse and was recently inducted into “Who's Who in America”
Accompanist
Kyungsun Choi
Pianist Kyungsun Choi joined Reveille Men’s Chorus in 2007. Mr. Choi has been enjoying a varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, accompanist and teacher. He has given numerous solo recitals and chamber recitals both in South Korea and USA. In addition, he has worked as a choir pianist and an opera pianist/coach. The opera productions that he has participated in were varied including Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet, Mascagni, Sondheim, Mechem, Menotti, and Bernstein. A native of Seoul, South Korea, Pianist Kyungsun Choi graduated from Yonsei University in Seoul, where he earned Bachelors degrees in Piano Performance. He went on to University of Northern Iowa on a full tuition scholarship where he received a Masters of Music under Prof. Sean Botkin and served as a graduate teaching assistant. Mr. Choi has been a Doctoral candidate in Piano Performance since fall 2006 at the University of Arizona under Dr. Paula Fan and serving as a graduate teaching assistant.
